Arsenal vs Manchester City – which club will win the English League Cup at Wembley?
This weekend the League Cup final is taking place at the Wembley stadium and the first trophy of the English season will be won. Arsenal and Manchester City are the two teams that are fighting for the honour.
The clear favourites for the game are Manchester City as they are the most talented team in the English Premier League and are looking like they will win the trophy easily and with matches to spare. They were trying to win four different trophies, and looked strong enough, until they were surprisingly beaten by Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup. The EFL Cup is the chance for them to win their first trophy since Pep Guardiola became manager, while the league and Champions League also remain real possibilities.
Although they were beaten by Wigan, Manchester City have been so strong all season and they are first place in the Premier League by 16 points. They are also in a strong position in the Champions League after beating Basel, so are close to reaching the last-eight.
Arsenal have already been beaten 3-1 by Manchester City this season and they are also playing again in the league on Thursday 1st March. However, the Londoners beat City in the FA Cup semi-finals last season at Wembley last year so will be confident on Sunday.
In the Premier League Arsenal are sixth place so they are looking most unlikely to qualify for the Champions League in that route. Instead they may have to win the Europa League instead, though this will not be easy, and they will have to beat some good teams on the way. David Ospina, the reserve keeper, is expected to play in the Carabao Cup ahead of Petr Cech.
Both teams have high quality attacking stars and using Tipbet’s great odds means that it is 1.50 that they both score a goal. In terms of claiming the trophy, City are 1.22 and 1.60 to do so in normal time. Arsenal are 5.00 to be ahead after 90 minutes, though there is the possibility of extra-time (3.40).
