Denmark v Poland – important World Cup qualifier
In Group E, UEFA qualifying has one of the closest groups in trying to reach the last-32 at the 2018 World Cup. Taking place in Russia only one side is guaranteed to make it there, and as it stands It will be Poland. They are top after six matches and have an impressive 16 points. Both Denmark and Montenegro will find it difficult to finish top so they may have to settle for the play-offs.
Poland’s biggest strength is Robert Lewandowski. The big Bayern Munich striker has scored 11 times and is probably the best striker throughout the continent. At 29 he is at his best and will be a major danger at the tournament next summer should his country qualify.
Last summer the Polish squad managed to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 which was being held in France. They also came level with Germany in the group stage and showed that they can compete with the best. As well as Lewandowski, they have Grzegorz Krychowiak, who recently joined Premier League club West Bromwich Albion. Therefore, their balance makes them a dangerous side.
If they can win in Denmark then they will be very close to advancing. Their two main opponents are just six points away, so it is important that they avoid defeat away from home. There are just four games to go. If Denmark can win then they will be very close to at least a play-off place – this would be over two legs. They are only behind Montenegro on goal difference.
When Denmark played their away game with Poland they lost 3-2 and Lewndowski scored three times. They have an excellent defensive record overall, however, so they a repeat of that scoreline is unlikely.
Tipbet is a great place for World Cup matches and all international football. They have 84 markets for this game alone – on Friday night – and Poland are 3.15 to get maximum points. They are slight underdogs, though, with Denmark offered at 2.30. All other games in Group E can be viewed here.
