Liverpool v Sevilla – which side can win on matchday one?
It is Liverpool’s first appearance in the Champions League competition for the first time since 2014 and they start with a tricky game against Spanish side Sevilla. They last played each other in the Europa League final of 2016 and Sevilla were winners after coming from behind. That meant that Jurgen Klopp’s first year in charge was not a success as they finished eighth place.
Although, Liverpool did manage to finish fourth last season which meant that they got back into Europe’s top club competition, the Champions League. They managed to beat German opponents Hoffenheim in the last round, winning 6-3 over the course of a two-legged tie.
The Reds have had a difficult opening to the 2017/18 Premier League. They first drew with Watford 3-3 on the first match day and showed that they have many issues in defence. They then beat Crystal Palace and produced a stunning performance to knock four goals past Arsenal at Anfield. However, last weekend they lost 5-0 to Manchester City in a game that they struggled after going down to 10 men.
Sevilla also had to get through the play-offs after finishing fourth in Spain – they knocked out İstanbul Başakşehir F.K.. However, last season they were eliminated from the Champions League in the last-16 by English side Leicester City, who were playing their first ever tournament, so they will want to go further this time.
Eduardo Berizzo and hios squad have done well so far in La Liga. They are in third place and have let in a single goal, winning two of their three games, and they are unbeaten to this point. They are two points off top spot, which is held by Barcelona. Tipbet have odds available on all Premier League and Spanish La Liga matches.
