Liverpool vs Manchester City – will Liverpool stop Manchester City winning?
Philippe Coutinho recently left Liverpool to join Barcelona and the big amount of money means that the club can try and buy a replacement of similar quality. The Merseyside team have already signed a new defended in Virgil van Dijk and their next game will be a real test – they are facing Manchester City on Sunday.
The leaders of the English Premier League Manchester City are yet to lose a game this season and they are looking to become only the second team to finish the season that way after Arsenal completed it in 2004. The London team drew 12 fixtures and ended up with 90 points. The record number of points is 95 and held by Chelsea. However, Manchester City have 62 points from 22 matches and will know that they are heading towards bettering both records.
On Sunday the match at Anfield will have the two best attacking teams in the Premier League and it is hard to see how many goals could be scored. The Manchester team have scored 64 times and that is, on average, very nearly three a game. Under Pep Guardiola they have won nine of their most recent 10 games and are in strong form. In defence they also have the best record as they have conceded only 13 times in 22 matches. Their goalkeeper Ederson has been a major reason for this record.
Liverpool will be able to attack Manchester City’s defence, but it is of course hard to get the ball off them as they usually dominate ball possession. Van Dijk was named man of the match in his first Liverpool game against Everton and he also scored a goal, so there are reasons for Liverpool to think that they can stop Manchester City’s unbeaten start.
City are 15 points ahead of second placed Manchester United, but for Liverpool there is a real battle to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League. In terms of sports betting odds, Tipbet.com is a bookie worth trying. They have plenty of odds on every Premier League game and for this fixture Liverpool can be selected at 3.00.
